AND RANGE RULES FOR PERSONS ACTING
AS CLUB SAFETY
OFFICERS
- REFERRED TO
AS 'RESPONSIBLE PERSONS' -
1. Never bring loaded firearms to the range, instructional classes or
lectures.
2. Never accept or hand over any firearm unless you have, or someone else
in your presence, has proved it SAFE.
3. Never ask whether a firearm is safe - prove it yourself.
4. Unless a firearm is holstered or cased, it must be carried with the action
open.
5. A firearm may only be loaded at the firing point and only with the
Safety Officer's permission.
6. Not more than fifteen rounds are to be loaded at any one time.
7. Each and every firearm must be certified safe by a Safety Officer
before it is removed from the firing line.
8. Firing line commands must be obeyed immediately.
9. No person may move forward of the firing line until permission is
given by the Safety Officer in charge of the line.
10. All firearms in use must be pointed towards the target area at all
times.
11. It is forbidden to handle other shooters' firearms without their
permission.
12. When a firearm misfires or malfunctions, it must be put down and not
touched further until the Safety Officer's attention is drawn, who will
examine the firearm to determine whether it is an allowable or non-
allowable malfunction - and only then may the shooter continue
shooting.
13. When the command or signal 'Cease Fire' is given, competition must
immediately stop. The competitors must unload their firearms, make
them safe and place them on the shooting bench. Shooting may be
resumed only on the appropriate command. Each time a series is
finished, interrupted or suspended, the competitor must place his
UNLOADED firearm on the shooting bench and not touch it while
scoring is in progress or while operating personnel are forward of the
firing point.
